You’re right to feel cheated that Siri (app) doesn’t work on slightly older iPhones/iPads. This is not because it can’t because the older version of Siri used to work on the iPhone 3GS and also iPhone 2, before Apple bought it up, tried to cover that up etc. They do it deliberately to force people to keep upgrading as much as possible even though the newer versions of their products are incremental upgrades. Don’t feel bad though – Siri is a fad. Most people who have it use it for a while until the novelty wears off, because really most of the time it’s still quicker to type things in and honestly, do you really want to be having “conversations” with your phone in public? What are touted and reinforced as great features by the slick Apple marketing machine are often anything but, and they can’t get away with releasing incremental upgrades and removing killer apps (Google Maps anyone) for much longer before people start going elsewhere and paying half the price for three times as many features on competing platforms.
Anyway, back to the Siri that matters. She bears a striking resemblance to January Jones, who plays Betty Draper/Francis in Mad Men (also one half of the lesbian couple in Anger Management, plus some bit part in The Boat That Rocked).
